Oh these people will say the same things over and over, it's really like watching paint dry. The ones that claim that their first generation, DPI dots per inchoptical mouse is fast enough. But i cannot find updated Win8 drivers on the Synaptics or Asus sites so far, and the tapping drives me positively nuts (I've always turned it off on all my past laptops/netbooks).I've touched upon this topic briefly in my other mouse posts but i wanted to clarify exactly why adjusting your mouse sensitivity, via the windows control panel, is a bad idea. Has anyone run into issues like this, or have a possible solution? I'd be willing to roll back the driver to an older one if it worked, install the driver from another brand if it worked without sucking up all the RAM, etc. One site I searched mentioned trying to download the updated drivers for Synaptics touchpads from the HP site for their Envy machine.but then others who tried it reported a huge non-page memory drain from it. There's usually a setting screen for tapping, multi-gesture controls (I'd also like to enable two-finger scroll), etc, but on mine, nothing.just details/drivers/general/events tabs. What I want to do is turn off the tapping on the touchpad. I searched Asus' site and they don't have any updated Win8 drivers for this machine, and in searching appeared to also be a problem on a few other touchpad models and brands of Win8. Generic mouse settings like pointer type and speed are there, and if you click over to devices there are general mouse and touchpad listed.but it appears from all my searching that many Windows 8 machines using Synaptics touchpads have shipped with generic touchpad drivers. However, when attempting to adjust the settings for my touchpad (Synaptics), and going into the hardware and device settings/mouse properties - there are simply no adjustable options for the touchpad.
While I so far love everything about the device, and am learning to use Windows 8 (so far no real issues - I work fine in the Metro interface for touch use, and the desktop mode I can get to look ALMOST like Windows7 so not too foreign). The issue is: I picked up a new Asus Vivo Tab tablet (not the Smart version or the RT version.just the standard Windows 8 32 bit version), with the keyboard dock. I've done a lot of Googling for info and it seems this is a common issue that has come up, but usually with no resolution for those with the problem - while a few others don't seem to have any issues. Hoping someone here might know something about this subject.
